Pre-Program Training is an important aspect of preparing forany missions trip because it helps you and your team get the most out of your mission
experience. By taking time individually and as a team, you can better
prepare yourself for the mission ahead. Pre-Program Training can be
broken down into two parts: Team & Individual Training.
- Team Training
- MBMS International is committed to ensuring that every church team that serves at an international MBMSI site experiences some basic training and team building before leaving for the field. Your team leader will work with your MBMSI Regional Mobilizer to determine an appropriate training schedule. Topics that will be included in training may include:
-
-An overview of MBMS International
-Dependency on Jesus
-Basics of intercultural ministry
-Spiritual authority
-Why do we do missions?
-Listening to God’s voice
|
-Teamwork/Conflict Resolution/Personality Styles
-Discovering your spiritual gifts
-Sharing your faith
-Staying spiritually and physically healthy
-Specifics on the culture you are visiting
-Preparing for Reentry
|
Individual Training
- Once accepted as church team member, you will receive A Next Mile Goer Guide. MBMS International has teamed up with The Next Mile, a resource organization that helps lay the foundation and provides follow-through for your mission trip. The purpose of this Guide is to help you prepare and unpack your experience so that you can discern God's leading for your future. As part of the material, each participant must find a mentor and meet with them before and after their trip.
A resource for your mentor is provided in the Next Mile Goer Guide that will help to guide and direct some of your meetings together - discuss your expectations before going and how to apply what you have learned/experienced into your life back at home when you have returned.
