Biography: Our family is a part of a church planting team that has been inThailand since 2006. The team came to Thailand as a response to thetsunami of 2004. Originally, MBMSI sent a number of work teams to PhangNga province to help rebuild homes for people whose homes weredestroyed by the tsunami. This eventually led to a request for a longerterm team to come to teach people about Jesus. 

Learning to speak, read & write Thai fluently is a big priority forus during our first term here. Thai is a difficult language for uswesterners to master - having 5 tones, 44 consonants, 32 vowels and acompletely different script! So we have our work cut out for us if wewant to be able to communicate with people in their heart languageabout the deeper issues of life.


We spent our first year in Lopburi, a small town 2 hours north ofBangkok, studying Thai full-time and the kids being home-schooled by agreat teacher who joined us for part of the year. We learned much aboutculture, language, team, and ourselves in that first year!

Our team also prayed & worked through the process ofdiscerning where we should be located once we relocated to the south ofThailand. By faith, we felt as though God led us to start in thelargest urban centre of the tsunami affected regions: Phuket City. (Youcan read more about the city on our 'Team' webpage). 

So now we are settling into our new community... learning to love& serve our neighbors in Jesus' name. Language is still a bigpriority - so we plug away at that! Though it definitely has itschallenges, we love this adventure that God has us on!
