“Jesus is hip!” “Jesus is cool!” “I did it for you!” In the past several months billboards have been erected all over the city of Guadalajara, Mexico, plastered with a picture of Jesus and these intriguing messages. The billboards have drawn a tremendous amount of attention amongst the citizens of Guadalajara, and especially the youth. Some speculate that this is merely a publicity stint to sell a new brand called “Jesus” for skaters. Citizens continue to ask who would spend thousands of dollars on billboards such as these, and more importantly, why?

Chimgee’s employment was a gift from God. In His perfect timing He brought her to the place that would be the beginning of her spiritual journey – the Kids’ Club. For about six months Chimgee’s children had been attending the program run by missionaries in Central Asia. The ministry is largely a social work program that gives children a place to go to receive meals, learn about God, and engage in fun and enriching activities. The missionaries were looking for a cook for the Kids’ Club and Chimgee was looking for a job, and so having already been acquainted with the missionaries because of her children’s involvement, this looked like the perfect opportunity for the mother of six to earn some extra money.

The Bergens are serving with MBMS International working with the Nanerige people group, translating scripture from the national French and Jula into their native tribal language.

Andra Prieb of John Brown University in Siloam Spring, Arkansas spent the summer of 2008 participating in MBMS International’s ACTION program. After a week of training in Montreal, Andra and four teammates headed to Lisbon, Portugal where they spent the following month completing service projects and running kids’ and youth camps.
