Here am I - send me! |

Erika Sukkau opened the front of her Bible and purposefully printed these words: “Here am I. send me!” The 19 year old had just attended a Jantz Team youth rally where the speaker posed a challenge to those who believed God was calling them to missions: to declare to Him that they were available. And so she did. Erika still has that Bible.

To Capture Hope |
Stepping off the plane into the brisk Northern Ontario air, the first thing that greeted John was a sign covered in graffiti that read, “Welcome to Hell.” This was just a foretaste of what he was about to experience on the Native Indian reserve in Pikangikum, Ontario.

A conversation with a business man on a flight bound for Saskatoon, SK in May 2006 challenged John Wiens to consider full time ministry in Ukraine. The statistics that he learned alarmed him: the ratio of women to men in their 60s is 30:1. Why? Because men are dying from alcohol poisoning. But alcohol addiction isn’t the only tragedy in Ukraine. Divorce rates are at 80% and the nation is home to 100,000 orphans. Rampant corruption and a discouraging economy leave Ukrainians with little hope. John couldn’t shake the facts from his mind. With connections to this land – both he and his wife Evelyn’s parents were born there – his desire to see Ukrainian lives transformed was strong.

Seizing the Divine |
“I’ve missed my divine moment!” Jeremy told his teammate as he crawled into their tent at night. The Nomad Team had been trekking through Central Asia and building relationships with families in a remote valley. Jeremy had reached a place where he thought he had learned as much as he could on his short term mission trip. One week was left in their journey, and he was excited to return to Canada with renewed passion. But God had plans to stretch his mind even further and call him into a deeper relationship with Himself.
