The 20 participants in this years missionary training program have completed the four month classroom based phase, and are now entering six month internships in church planting settings across North America. These internships represent a unique partnership between our global church planting effort and our provincial/district church planting strategies. By placing long term mission candidates in North American church planting internships, we have the opportunity to both learn from practitioners as well as infuse some global mission ‘DNA’ into that new church. Various MB church planting leaders have traveled to locations like Thailand and North Africa to both learn from our church planters, as well as strengthen the relationship between emerging churches on both sides of the ocean. The strength of investing in a denominational church planting strategy is that we can link, support, and learn from our outreach work both locally and globally. I was recently visiting with our Canadian and US MB conference leaders to coordinate strategy and vision. While there is much to celebrate, we also lament the fact that more could be done to reach our communities with the gospel. How do local churches and leaders grow in their mission “DNA”? We reflected on the over 700 participants from across North America in short term mission training programs last year, and realized that we already have a vehicle to both disciple and renew mission vision and values in our churches. The global church is learning from each other in ways never before possible. As a global MB family we are on this mission together! Ministry Highlights
Trever Godard has been helping the Mexican church form a new church planting vision that includes an MB church in all 31 states of Mexico. There are presently four new initiatives underway! Trever and Joan believe that this investment of their time into these new churches will reap a new missionary force.
The Oasis Team has found a new location for their Media & Training Centre in North Africa. They are praying that this facility will increase their capacity to reach the least reached with the good news of Jesus. Last year, there were over 5000 monthly responses to their television and radio programs and 1000 people are currently involved in their small Bible studies. Praise God for how He is using this media ministry to spread the gospel all over the world. Items For Prayer
Ben & Melissa Froese have recently arrived in Germany, where they will be serving at the East Berlin church plant. Pray that God will give them vision and excitement for their future ministry. Pray also for strength and encouragement as they adapt to a different culture and new language.
In The Life Centre, Angsila and Bethel churches in Thailand, over 45 people made decisions for Christ in one week! Praise God! Join with our MBMSI missionaries in Thailand in praying that even more people will come to know Jesus in this next year. Pray for boldness, open hearts, and effective discipleship with new believers. |
