Family Quest - Overview of Quebec Print E-mail
soar_location_overview.jpg
Quebec is grappling with what it means to be a post-modern and post-Catholic society. Montréal is more akin to the secular urban centers of Europe than other cities across Canada and the USA, representing where society in general is heading. Because the city has such a small percentage of Christians, it is North America’s largest unreached people group. Most of today’s Quebec youth are the first generation born to non-Catholic parents. Raised without any religious framework, they long to discover hope and meaning for everyday life.

Youth who do attend church do not have many older Christian mentors. On the edge of complacency, they are wrestling with knowing Christ for real and choosing to make their parent’s faith their own. These dynamics leave us with the unique opportunity to minister on the forefront of a society at a critical season of youth culture.

Family Quest - Orientation Print E-mail

Saturday July 12 to Sunday July 13, 2008 (2 days)

Orientation is a spiritual retreat and time of ministry training.  Here your family will embrace what it means to transmit justice, mercy and love for God.  Interestingly, it requires the reverse order. Doing justice must come from a heart of compassion which God forms in us as we draw close to him.   In addition, God will bring us face to face with current and historical issues that affect this province.  It will give us the opportunity to stand with the Quebec church in ways that go beyond politics and tradition.

You will explore the city through the eyes of God's servants.  Together we will taste and see the rich diversity of God's creation as represented in the nations that call Montreal home.   Along rue St. Catherine, you will experience God's heart for the homeless.
