Dear Ministry Partner,
We trust that you experienced a joyful holiday season, celebrating God's greatest gift of His Son Jesus! We thank God for each of you who make it possible for us to live and minister here in Sao Paulo. Lord permitting, our plans are to continue at PACA until June, 2009 when we hope to move to Kansas to be near Marilyn's parents.
Our latest family news is that we have a new granddaughter, Jacie Annabel Maxfield, born on Jan. 13, 2007 to our oldest daughter Jennifer and husband Jason. Jacie joins 5-year-old big brother Jordan, and 2-year-old big sister Julianna. We look forward to seeing the 5 of them in mid-June, when Jason, Jennifer and family plan to visit Brazil. Before their visit, however, we look forward to the March visit of our second daughter, Laurie, husband Travis, and their two children, Tarissa and Titus. Our son David may also come visit us in May, but isn't sure, as he has opened his own graphic arts business called "Ocean Design," in Miami Beach, Florida.
Ken would appreciate your prayers as PACA classes resume on Jan. 29th, and the sports season starts up right away. Ken will be the Jr. High boys softball coach, and will assist the varsity boys softball team, besides coordinating all the 8 PACA teams this second semester.
Another prayer request is for the Taiwanese single mom from our church, Liz, and her two sons, Abraham (11 yrs. old) and Michael (13 yrs. old) who have been living with us since the beginning of December. Liz is finishing her first of 4 years of nursing school, and needs to pass the physiology final which she will be taking next week Wednesday on January 24th, in order to go on to the second year of the nursing program. It has been 20 years since Liz studied in high school, and she has worked hard at her studies, receiving a full scholarship for her tuition for the coming school year which begins in February. Also, Liz needs a place to rent of her own, in walking distance from PACA where her two younger sons are students. We have searched everywhere for a decent, safe, and reasonable place for Liz to rent, and so far nothing has opened up. Liz receives only a small stipend from her ex-husband who lives in the States with her oldest son Nathan (15 yrs. old.)
Marilyn, too, would appreciate your prayers, as she recently found out that the pain in her lower abdomen is Tendonitis, most likely caused by over-doing things after her surgery a year ago. So, Marilyn needs to rest and be very careful not to over-exert herself, which is rather difficult with another family living with us.
Thanks for your prayers on our behalf,
Ken & Marilyn
