The opening chords of SOAR Heartland rang out loud and exuberant on the afternoon of Thursday the 22nd of March. Over two hundred people, predominately youth, made their way into Winnipeg's Christian Family Centre with sleeping bags and supplies in tow, preparing to spend their next ten days serving and discovering their GPS (God Pleasing Song).
Throughout this ten day mission trip to Winnipeg's North End and core areas, participants were challenged to listen to God's Pleasing Song and minister within those ever important notes. Daily sessions challenged the participants in their spiritual walk with the Lord and then their ministries throughout the city allowed them to put what they were learning into practice. Their ministries were all relational, focusing mainly on children, providing VBS (Vacation Bible School), healthy lunches and lots of love each day.

In retrospect of the entire experience and keeping with the theme of listening to the God Pleasing Song (GPS), it appears that a song of celebration was sung over the entire event. The Lord was very active, working in the hearts of the participants, breaking down walls and speaking love into their lives. As well as at the ministries, the Lord was drawing people to Himself and allowing His love and care to flow through the hands and fee of those ministering. The words from Zephaniah definitely resound clearly in regard to this year's SOAR Heartland.

"The LORD your God is with you, he is mighty to save. He will take great delight in you, he will quiet you with his love, he will rejoice over you with singing." - Zephaniah 3:17
