IN THE SOUTH
This past week our whole team travelled to the southern provinces of Phuket & Phang Nga (fyi, the "ph" is pronounced "p") to scout out potential locations to move to this coming Fall. At times the challenge is a bit overwhelming (what city, how close to other team members, which neighborhood, what home, etc). But at the same time, God gave us some very specific and encouraging words that sustain us in the midst of these big decisions. Please pray with our team as we will be meeting this week to listen to each other's experiences and discern together what the next steps should be. Waiting is hard for us... we would so LOVE to know right now (!) where God wants us to move to this coming September. But we'd rather stay in step with His timing than to rush in too quickly. As you think about us over the next 4 or 5 days, could you please pray for our team as we work through these things?
Side note: I (Greg) met a guy from Nepal who lives in Phuket making suits for tourists. He asked me why I was in Thailand and I told him that God had specifically asked us to come. He was a bit surprised by that and said that (as a Hindu) he thought that God doesn't lead people so specifically... and he felt that that as long as you don't do things that are bad, He lets you go or do as you want.
"Johnny" (somehow that name doesn't sound all that Nepalese!) is not the first person I have run across here who has no experience of a God who speaks and interacts with us in specific and very personal ways.
