I've been impacted this week by a visit from a new mission candidate from Colombia. He has served for the past three years in Central Asia as a school teacher in a totally Muslim context. As a single man, he has been able to live with local Muslim families accepting their hospitality and sharing his life in Christ with them. The humility and simplicity of his life and witness reminded me of John's account in John 20:21 of Jesus' commission to us, "As the Father has sent me, I am sending you."
We are praying for a new holistic church planting team to serve
together with him and incarnate the life of Jesus amongst the least
reached of the Muslim world. Will you join us in praying for that team
to form and be strategically placed?
Last summer, he spent his school vacation visiting a business friend at
his home in the Middle East. When this family and their friends
discovered he was a follower of Jesus, they filled his time with
questions. It's a privilege to point people with a deep spiritual
hunger to Jesus. "I am the bread of life," said Jesus.
This month another one of our mission families is spending several
weeks in one of the most restricted regions of Asia visiting families
they have gotten to know and sharing the "good news of the Kingdom."
Pray that they would have many divine appointments with spiritually
hungry people who will also find the bread of life.
Ministry Highlights
- Five youth in Guadalajara, Mexico recently made decisions to follow
Jesus while on a Youth Retreat with the RETO church. Praise God for
these five who have taken this step of faith, and also for the
continued growth of the youth group in that church.
- Russ and Marj Speiser recently provided leadership for sound, lights
and video teams at a conference for North African believers in Vichy,
France. During the conference they also recorded twelve interviews
with believers for use in an evangelistic satellite television program
which will be broadcast in some of the most difficult to reach areas of
the world.
Items for Prayer
- Pray for our teams in Lima and Trujillo, Peru. These young churches are full of seekers discovering life in Jesus.
- Please pray for the SOAR and ACTION mission training camps that will
take place in July. Pray that young disciples would meet Jesus in life
transforming ways. Pray that many new mission participants will
experience the call of God on their lives as they serve this summer.
Until all have heard,
Randy Friesen
