Hi from Japan!
We arrived here on Wednesday afternoon. Our flight went very well and all our luggage got here in good shape. Thanks to all who prayed for us. Several people from our church met us with a car and two vans. We visited with them and others for a while at church and then started unpacking and getting settled. Our house was kept in good condition. We are glad we didn’t have to move and get setup in an entirely different place.
It is hot and humid here but we are adjusting. We are thankful that our air conditioning units still work! Sleep isn’t going that well yet, but it will come. So we have had lots of time to unpack all the suitcases and boxes and for the most part put everything away!
We are looking forward to seeing everyone on Sunday. We will have our regular worship service with communion and then a potluck meal (to welcome us back!). After that I will meet with the church leaders for a lengthy meeting. It will be great! Planning and prayer meetings already begin today (Friday).
All the streets seemed very narrow and our house feels pretty small. During the last year we had 3 bathrooms - now we are back to one! We are adjusting to driving on the other side of the road again and our Japanese words are coming back. We are enjoying some of our favorite sights, smells, and tastes. It was a delight to walk through each room of our church building and remember how God has blessed our congregation. Thank you Lord!
In just over a week the YMI Action Team (MBMS International) will be here for 4 weeks. Pray for us as we shift into high gear to get ready for their ministry.
We had a great year in Canada and are looking forward to what God will do during this term.
In Christ,
Laurence and Leona Hiebert
