Dear Ministry Partners,

With Thanksgiving just around the corner, we thank God for each of you who participate in our ministry with your prayers and support.

Now that varsity sports are over for the semester, Ken can take a few deep breaths now and then, though the junior high sports teams are still practicing for their up-coming tournament November 28th-Dec. 1st.  The Athletic Awards night was held this past Friday for the varsity basketball and soccer teams, and it was a blessing to hear the testimonies 3 senior athletes who shared what God taught them through their participation in PACA sports.  Since we last wrote, our boy's varsity team won the league championship beating Graded, the large American school in Sao Paulo, but a week later lost to them in the Big 8 Tournament finals.  Immediately after losing the boys basketball finals to Graded at the tournament, our players and the players from Graded school hugged each other and had their picture taken of the two teams together, as many of the PACA players have become friends with the Graded players.  We are thankful for this positive interaction among the two schools, and trust that God will use it to point our opponants to Christ.

Just yesterday, we were shocked to learn that our elderly Italian neighbor had died on Sunday when we were gone to church, and that the funeral and burial had already happened within 24 hours in accordance to Brazilian law.  Last week was Sr. Danilo's 93rd birthday, and we were thankful that we had visited him on his birthday for a few minutes, though he was weak and in bed.  Marilyn is also thankful that she gave Sr. Danilo a gospel tract back in June before we left for our summer furlough, telling him that the message it contained was the most important message in the world.   We don't know if Sr. Danilo read the tract, or made a decision to receive Christ, but we did notice a Bible on the bedstand in his room last week.   We continue to pray for the salvation of Sr. Danilo's 2 daughters, Luiza and Silvana, as well as their families, and wonder how much contact we'll have with them now that Sr. Danilo's house is empty.
This coming Sunday, we will be having lunch with Nelly, our 82 yr. old former neighbor and friend.  She know about the Lord but has many intellectual questions about minor biblical issues.  Pray for the Lord to guide our conversation and for Nelly's true salvation.

Next week the Mennonite missionary families will be getting together at our house for a Thanksgiving dinner.  We're hoping we can find a turkey before then, since Brazilians don't celebrate Thanksgiving and turkeys are usually sold around Christmas time.

In several weeks, Marilyn will be having cheerleading tryouts for second semester.  It's interesting that God is bringing 5 vivacious senior girls to try out, as well as a few underclassmen, so please pray that there will be unity and a desire to grow spiritually through cheerleading.

Marilyn's brother Phil and family did finally receive their visas to travel to Brazil for Christmas, so please pray for their travel safety and that they won't have any problems with customs.  They are bringing in donated soccer balls for the PACA athletic department.

Have an abundant and blessed Thanksgiving!

Ken and Marilyn
