1. GOD'S PERFECT TIMING
This story comes from one of our missionaries serving in a restricted access country. *Name was changed.
Last week I took our car to a mechanic and became frustrated by how things were going. The mechanic, Amit*, was nice but didn't do what I had wanted.
I went down to the shop and we were able to work out the misunderstanding and have a good conversation. At one point, out of the blue, Amit (who is Muslim) said, "I would really like to have a Bible".
"I'm sorry. What did you say?" I asked. "I would like to have a Bible. I have read the Koran but never the Bible. I would like to see what it says.""Well," I said. "I can help you."
The other night, Amit came to our house along with a friend. We talked about Islam and Jesus and I was able to give them New Testaments and introduce them to the Bible. At one point, I warned them that the Bible was a dangerous book as it would probably change their lives.
Amit grasped my meaning and said, "yes, we can't only read it. We must read and apply what we learn". They were excited to begin reading and were interested in meeting and discussing it as well.
God sure shows up at interesting times. Our frustrating car situation turned into a wonderful opportunity!
2. GOD IS OUR PROVIDER!
We are pleased to introduce you to Mark Klassen who joined our Operations Team on September 1. Mark has a wonderful blend of skills in both I.T. (Information Technology) and Media. Mark has a Bachelor's degree in Mathematics and English and is gifted in the areas of data analysis, communications, web development, graphic design, photography, music and video production. Mark and his wife Michelle enjoy travelling, exploring the outdoors, growing giant pumpkins, and going on quests to ride the world's biggest roller coasters.
3. 200 KIDS HEAR ABOUT JESUS FOR THE FIRST TIME!
We just had an amazing week building a playground for a very poor school connected to the Bethel cell church plant. The whole week that we were building the playground, we had opportunities to teach them about the Lord!

4. RETIRED MBMSI MISSIONARY GOES HOME
Frank Peters was born in Wernersdorf, Molotschna, Ukraine on February 20, 1929, to Peter and Katarina Peters and imigrated to Coaldale, Alberta in 1948. While attending MB Bible College in Winnipeg, Frank met Helen Thiessen and the two later married. Frank, Helen and their family of six joined MBMSI in 1960 as missionaries to Brazil after serving with the South American MB Conference in Brazil for five years. In all, Frank served God for over thirty years in Brazil.
Ray Harms-Wiebe, MBMSI's Global Program Leader remembers Frank from his many years of missionary service in Brazil. "Frank was a passionate, gifted, dedicated servant. He certainly had the gifts of teaching and evangelism. I remember his welcome smile, his encouraging words for a young missionary, and his tears while he preached. I pray the Lord of the harvest will call forth many more workers with Frank's passionate, servant heart to minister to the peoples of the earth. Frank wanted all to come to know Jesus. He wanted all to understand what it means to follow Jesus. He leaves a great legacy to emulate.
5. PRAISE IN PRAYER
Do you have a desire to pray for MBMSI missionaries in 2008? We believe effective mission service is birthed and sustained in prayer and that prayer changes things.
