TREK Joins DMI Team in Peru - "It's So Simple Print E-mail
The air felt stiff that day, promising another hot day in the desert of Peru. I was in the town of Chato Chico in Piura, Peru. It was the first day of our DMI program and I had no idea what to expect, besides the fact that God was going to be doing something way beyond anything I could imagine. I held tight to that promise as I embarked into the village with my coworkers.

TREK Upbeat reggaeton music pounded from one of the first brightly-coloured houses we came to. We knocked a few times, but didn't get an answer. We moved on, but a few houses later I felt compelled to look back. I saw a young woman watching us from the window, so I waved and decided that we should head back. I gave my testimony, and one of my coworkers explained to her why we wanted to share Jesus with her and what it meant to invite Him into her life. Tears trickled down her cheeks, and a new glow lit up her face when she made the decision to accept Jesus. My heart overflowed with joy as we left, knowing that she was now filled with the peace, love, and grace of the Holy Spirit.

The DMI program was amazing. I have never felt as privileged to be a part of bringing God's kingdom to earth as I did that week; I witnessed about one hundred people invite Jesus into their lives. Sometimes entire families made the commitment together. I saw many faces with a renewed brightness and many bodies with a renewed demeanour as they ran into the open arms of Jesus, and I was surprised and humbled every day by how God's plans are always so much bigger than I could ever imagine.

A few days after we returned to Lima from our DMI trip, we also shared our DMI program in our youth group. I knew that four of our close friends had been "on the fence" about committing to Christ since before we arrived in Peru with TREK; I was interested to see how our story would be received. That evening, all four of them decided to truly commit to following Christ.

One of the young women, Marina, said something that has stuck in my mind ever since: "I have wanted to do this for a long time already, but I just never had the opportunity before now." I was very challenged by Marina's statement. I have always primarily tried to live out my faith and use words when asked. However, through this entire DMI experience, God showed me that what's more important is just being in tune with Him and allowing Him to work more freely in my life without constraining His message through my fear of speaking out.

It's so simple - Jesus goes ahead of us in every moment of our day and simply asks us to tune into Him and follow Him in our faith, words, and actions. May
we continually be taken beyond our fears and hesitations into a deeper place where we witness the awesome plans of Christ being fulfilled and His kingdom
brought to earth!
