Coincidence or God's Hand?
In church this month, when the guest speaker got up to speak, Blaine whispered to me that he recognized him. He didn't look familiar to me. As he was giving his slide show presentation he had pictures of an event that we were also at. A year ago last November we went to Mali with Phil and Carol for the dedication of a new Bible written in Minyanka. Fritz (the guest speaker) was the Bible consultant for the translators of this project. In the past Phil has wanted help from him but he was too busy to add yet another project. While talking to him here in France he told us that he has 2 men who could help be consultants with Phil now and they are from a similar language group as Nanerige. We phoned Phil and he enthusiastically said that he needs those men right away. So we emailed the info to him. Meanwhile, Fritz asked if we know Entz's in Burkina. Here Loren and Donna's son Zachery and his wife are staying in Fritz's house in Bamako right now.
A Rendez-Vous in Paris
Last week we met a fellow Canadian who is an english lecturer at a university nearby. She too wants to improve her french and knew of a conversational group in Paris. So one afternoon last week we went to check it out. The group turned out to be comprised of more people who wanted english practice than those who wanted french practice. After the class we went out for some hot chocolate at a little coffee shop. My friend said that this place was known for good hot chocolate but that it was very rich and suggested that we share. It was VERY good and we shared a pastry to go with it. When she said that the chocolate was rich I assumed she was talking about the taste but when we got the bill I realized that it also applied to the price. One hot chocolate (which came in a pitcher that held a little more than one cup) and one pastry came to 12€ ($17.70 Canadian)!
Team to N'dorola
We were excited to have a team of people from Saskatchewan and California go to Burkina Faso to spend some time with Phil and Carol in N'dorola and to understand our work better. On their way to Burkina they had a long lay-over in Paris. We were able to go out to the airport to visit and have lunch together. It is a blessing to us to have our churches interested in our work in Burkina so much that they would take the time and effort to go there and see what it is like. Now we are anxiously waiting to hear how it went and what their reactions are to our future home.
Thank you to all of you who are praying for us. This past month has been a bit easier with classes and culture. Please also pray for peace in Chad. We have friends trapped in the country.
