Hello everyone,
About a month ago, I had an errand to run. It had to do with returning a certain key, for a certain room that was in a certain town that we had stayed in, that is certainly too far away to drive to. So we were instructed that we could return the key by priority post and all would be forgiven. So a trip to the post office was necessary. But the first time that we went, there was a line-up that was about an hour long. We didn't have the time at that moment. We could try again later. We did, but there was still a big line, and we had no time. On the third try, there was still a line, but this time I had the time to wait. And so I asked someone where to grab a number for my spot in line, and sat down to wait.
I sat down beside the person who had helped me find the number, and I began to do some Thai homework which involved reading. He saw this and asked, "You can read Thai? Why? Why are you here?" I put down my homework and for the next 30-40 minutes, we talked about Jesus, sin, and God's love. It was a wonderful conversation. I could see in his eyes that he was truly interested. When the time came for him to go, I gave him my phone number and said that if he would like to talk about this or other things, I was gladly available. He said that he would like that. His name is Khun Yai.
I was sure that he would call, but there was nothing. I kept praying for him because I knew that it was more than a random meeting. It was a divine appointment.
Over the months that we have been here, Karlene and I regularly walk through our neighbourhood and pray. It is a neighbourhood of well over 150 houses. There are many things we pray for, and one is that God would bless our neighbours and that they would come to know Him. Well, a few days ago, I was out walking and praying, and who do I see? Yes! That's right. We talked for a while. I met his family. We both were genuinely happy to see each other. I wonder what God has in store?
Please pray for our team as we will be spending most of next week in concentrated prayer and discussion, to discern how God would have us proceed with the "how-to's" of churchplanting.
Love,
Kevin, Karlene, Tyler, Andrew and Jesse.
