"Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us in the heavenly realms with every spiritual blessing in Christ." Ephesians 1:3
I feel like I have so many reasons to praise God as I see Him at work around me. As a church we have been studying Acts 2:42-47 and really digging deep into what it means to live as a community. Recently we have added Sunday School classes to our Sunday morning worship together, giving us opportunity to study the Bible and pray together in smaller groups. One of the classes is focused towards those who are newer to the church and interested in getting baptized. Please pray for the many who are participating in this class, that they might be challenged and encouraged to take this important step of commitment.
As a youth group we have also experienced much blessing! Our HADIME program in January kicked off the year, challenging many of our youth to discover their gifts, strengths and passions, and get more involved in different ministries. As youth leaders we have all made a commitment to study the Bible daily, going through a book that guides us through the whole Bible in one year. And we have also committed to discipling at least one other member of the youth group. Please pray for our youth leaders as they learn what it means to invest in the lives of others in such an intentional way.
I've had ups and downs in some of my discipleship relationships. Due to different reasons I haven't been able to carry on in a formal way with a couple of the girls I was discipling last year. But God has led Vicky into my life, and I've been enjoying getting to know this energetic young lady. She's had many struggles in life, and she's really trying to figure out who she is in Christ. She has so many questions, and it's a joy to meet with her, read the Bible together, and figure out what God wants to say to her. Pricila, Vicky, Sandra
As a team this has been a very busy time as we've all received different visitors and teams coming to work with us. We continue discipling the TREK girls and AP (an intern from California) in their different ministries and language learning. We continue to move forward with plans for a training center, with the recognition that this is much bigger than all of us, and trusting God to guide us in our plans.
I praise God for an amazing, supportive family! One of the great blessings I've recently experienced was a 2 week visit from my parents and my sister Melissa. We enjoyed a week here in Guadalajara and a week of vacation in Puerto Vallarta. Earlier my brother Anthony was here to spend New Years with me, and he also helped out with the HADIME program.
What's to come? In the next couple of weeks Jen and I will be busy as Trever and Joan are away on MINA and we oversee the teams here, and also welcome the TREK director for a week of training for the TREKers. We are also moving from our apartment to a different house. I'll send out the new address once I have it.
I really appreciate your continued prayers:
* That the TREK girls would continue to stay focused on their ministries, finishing strong!
* For our youth leadership team as we plan youth programs and as some start discipleship relationships. That our youth group would grow spiritually, relationally, and in number as new youth join us.
* For Vicky, as she continues to learn who she is in Christ, that she would be encouraged as she learns to study the Bible.
* For us as the Mathew Team, to remain focused on what God has called us here to do, in the midst of all our different schedules, visitors and teams.
May you recognize the many ways that God has blessed you today and give Him praise!
Blessings,
Sandra Plett
