Ricky often comes in the door and says, “Do you want the good news first or the bad news?” I don’t know about you...but I always want the bad news first.
The bad news for us right now is that Bing Bing, age 7 and our newest Abundant Life Home girl, was diagnosed with pneumonia tonight. She is getting great care at our local hospital, but we need your prayers for God’s healing touch and a quick and full recovery! Pneumonia is especially serious in children who are HIV+, so all of us are quite concerned and we know that prayer is our only hope as we care for all the children in our home.
“Jesus, thank you for rescuing Bing Bing from the streets of Bangkok and bringing her to our home. We ask for your powerful hand of healing to be upon Bing Bing’s lungs and body right now, to bring complete healing and to perform a miracle so Your name will be known in our city and at our hospital. Comfort Bing Bing and gently hold her in the days to come. Amen.”
The good news is that we just recently experienced another miracle of God’s healing and protection over our ALH kids when two of our nannies were diagnosed with T.B.. When our pediatrician, Dr. Aree, heard about our nannies having T.B., she said it was a health care crisis for our ALH kids because of their immune systems. T.B. can be fatal for some HIV+ children.
We had all recently traveled by night train to teach break dancing to the kids at the Agape Home in Chiang Mai and all slept in the same room for four nights. All of our ALH kids ended up being clear of T.B. after a couple of weeks of intense testing and care. Another miracle from Jesus for our children, and also for Dr. Aree, who continues to see God’s hand on our orphanage and on the lives of our children and our church.
Please continue to pray for P Nom and P Ganiga who are still taking medication for T.B., that they would be completely healed as well!
Our latest good news has been 3+ years coming!! Over 3 years ago, I started working with our Thai staff, Ying, to try and form a legal charitable foundation for our emerging MB conference and the Abundant Life Home. It has been an uphill, red tape, bureaucratic, head-ache-filled, pull-your-hair-out-in-frustration-process right from the start. This foundation would give our MB conference here legal rights to purchase and own property, and also to help needy people in almost any kind of crisis. It would also enable The Abundant Life Home to be able to register as a recognized government approved orphanage with full license to receive many more children. Our Khmu brothers and sisters up north have also been praying for a foundation for many years to give them legal status in Thailand.
Late at night, we finally got a call from our Thai assistant, Faa, saying that the governor had just called her and told her our foundation was approved! I have felt giddy with joy and relief ever since! Our team, Thai believers, and many of you back home have been praying faithfully in spiritual warfare, that this foundation would not be blocked by the enemy, and move ahead so God’s purposes can go forward here.
Our team had just had an amazing day of reaffirming our love and commitment to each other after 8 years of living and serving together. We sensed God calling us to yet a deeper level of love for each other as we look to the next few years together. God gently poured His grace and mercy out over us once again as we confessed our dependency on Him and on each other. We felt that the foundation being approved on the very same day that we humbled ourselves and unified our hearts, was a prophetic sign of God’s pleasure and unfolding plan for Thailand. Ricky and I feel excited about all that God is about to do in our lives and our family, our team and in our Thai churches and believers here.
Serving a GOOD God,
