Dear Ministry Partner,

Thank you once again for your faithful prayers and support for us! With God's help, we have finally reached the end of the busy second semester varsity sports season at PACA, though we still have one more week of J.V. sports remaining finishing with the Little Eight junior high volleyball and indoor soccer tournament at a camp May 7-10th that Ken will direct. After that, we hope to catch our breath and focus on catching up on things neglected since the beginning of the semester.

This semester, Ken enjoyed coaching the junior high boy's softball team which took first place at their final tournament, and Marilyn had a great group of girls who worked hard to represent Christ in cheerleading. However, at their routine presentation at the varsity Inter Eight Tournament April 2nd - 5th that Ken directed, one of her cheerleaders lost her balance on a simple, lower stunt and landed with her foot twisted. She continued to finish the routine limping through the choreography and did a fantastic job on the final tall mount. After the tournament, she found out that she had fractured her tibia and needed to be in a cast for 6 weeks! What a shock for Natalie and for the squad. The cheerleaders still wanted to do their routine two weeks later at the final league game, so we asked another student who had been a former cheerleader to help out, and she learned everything in 10 days that had taken the squad 5 weeks. After making a few helpful changes, we are thankful that the second presentation of the routine went smoothly.

On March 19th, the Wednesday before Easter, Ken had arthroscopic knee surgery and is finally able to walk slowly without using crutches! Ken's left knee was much more deteriorated than the MRI showed, so his recovery has been much slower than his other knee surgeries. Since he has been unable to drive or lift very much because if needing to use crutches, Marilyn has had extra work and more responsibilities. However, both of us have seen improvement as we have been going to physical therapy twice a week during the evenings--Ken for his knee, and Marilyn for her tendonitis.

This past month of April has been unusually busy with a re-accreditation committee from the States visiting the PACA campus, and with Parent/Teacher/Student conferences.

Recently, Marilyn's father, Harry Friesen, was hospitalized a second time for congestive heart failure, though he is back home and improving at present. Our prayer is that Dad's health will stabilize so that we will be able to complete our 30th year at PACA before moving back to Kansas in June of 2009 to help care for Marilyn's parents.

Please continue to pray for our health, protection, provision, and for opportunities to share Christ with those around us.

Love in Christ,
Ken & Marilyn
