Short-term mission experiences have significantly shaped our lives as individuals and as a couple.  I’m really excited be able to devote full-time energies to facilitating short-term missionary experiences through MBMSI.  For the past 8 years, I have spent my time serving adults with developmental disabilities with MCC Supportive Care Services.  I’ve had wonderful opportunities to touch the lives of people at their points of most basic need, and to be blessed by them in return.

In the meantime, I have served on short-term missions teams in Austria, Czech Republic, Ukraine, DR Congo, Malawi, Mexico and throughout North America.  I was on a TREK team in 1997-98 and as a couple we have been on TREK leadership teams several times over the past few years.  Christy’s missions experiences have taken her to a mud hut in Mali, and to Austria and the Czech Republic.  Both of us are convinced that short-term missions experiences are times when God does significant shaping work in the lives of people involved.  We want to see God work in our lives and in the lives of those around us.

I’m called a Mobilization Administrator for MBMSI.  My role is to help facilitate the 6-week Summer ACTION program, the TREK program, and also to work at connecting with MB churches in BC to help them envision how to be fruitfully involved in global mission. I grew up in Carstairs, Alberta, and have a BA in Biblical Studies from Columbia Bible College, and a Master of Divinity from ACTS Seminaries.  When I’m not at work (and sometimes when I am!) I love to sing, read, write, travel and connect with important people in my life.

Christy grew up in Dalmeny, Saskatchewan.  She is a certified Early Childhood Educator, and teacher of English as a Second Language.  She spends her days doing both of those things, teaching children with developmental disabilities, and teaching English as a Second Language to recent immigrants to Canada.  Christy is excited to spend a good chunk of time volunteering with the TREK and ACTION programs, mentoring people, teaching ESL skills, and building relationships.  We have been volunteering with TREK as a couple since we got married, and are excited to have the opportunity to be even more involved now.

We are excited to be a part of the MBMSI team.  More importantly, we are excited to be a part of God’s team.  There’s no better team to be a part of!
