Needed: $6,300 (USD) BET L (Bethel) Church – This newly formed, rapidly growing church ministers to the AIDS community in the form of outreach evangelism, mentoring, and discipleship. Pastor Bu is also supported through these donations. | |
“Bet L” is a new “miraculous” church plant that is in a very un-reached city south of Bangkok. It all began last year when one nurse heard the Gospel, believed in Jesus and then started to share her faith with her AIDS patients. After seeing God perform miracles of healing and answered prayer, many people with HIV began to believe in Jesus and desire to know more about the Living God. That is when the nurse knew that her new believers needed help and discipleship! One day when she came into Chonburi she passed by my close friend Naat’s church and asked them if they would come to Bet L. and preach the Gospel to her patients with AIDS. When the day came to preach the Gospel in Bet L, Naat and Pastor Bu were surprised to see 100 people with HIV listening to their message intently. As Pastor Bu asked who wanted to give their life to Christ and receive forgiveness from their sins, 70 people raised their hands and came forward for prayer! This is response is rarely seen in this Buddhist nation! Since this day between 30—40 people come every Saturday to worship and study the Word of God.
This past Christmas, the new believers suddenly had no place to meet for worship and Naat’s church had no money to help support this new church plant. It appeared that the only option was to close the church. When we heard this pronouncement as a team, we knew that God was calling us to help find support from our Mennonite Brethren church family in North America. This Sunday, we are blessed to see the first group of 8 Believers baptized, March 26. We know that God has an important purpose for this AIDS church in Thailand. We believe that once their testimony spreads to our city and other cities, many more people with AIDS will come to Christ. Our prayer is that God would use “least of these” people, some of the poorest and most despised people in Thailand, to start a fire of revival in Thailand that would blaze across this nation! Amen? Amen! |
