Davis Newsletter April 2009 Print

Dear Friends,

Hello from Chachoengsao and the Bethel Church Plant, and of course, from the Davis family.

The last few weeks have been really busy. We have had the short term team of 6 young people (Trek) with us. They did a week of English clubs every morning and evening for 5 days. One location was Naat, our Thai evangelist/pastor’s, new neighborhood. She and her 2 kids moved out this way in March, and having a kid’s English club right in front of her house every evening was a great way to get to know the new neighbors! We had as many as 60 people there one evening, counting kids, parents, and workers. Please pray as Naat builds on those relationships.

We have continued to go into the local rice factory once a week and teach the Bible and a little English. Recently 2 young men came to the Lord there, and the following week, 2 more! We now have several new believers there that we are discipling, and a new cell church is emerging! Please pray for this amazing opportunity.

Last week the Trek team helped us prepare for our second baptism service by cleaning up around the Salaa (building) along the canal and painting it! You can see pictures of it on the blogsite: bethelchurchplant.blogspot.com.

On Sunday April 5th we gathered together to witness 10 precious young believers follow the Lord in a public proclamation of their new life in Jesus! It was a great time with about 60 people gathered for worship and witness. Friends came out from Bang Saen (The Life Center) to celebrate with us. Please pray for these young ones in Christ, that God will bless them and protect them from anything that would hinder their life with God.

Family life goes on as well. Jason is currently on Easter break and looking forward to Song Kran (“water fight for 3 days”). Lydia has completed her TEFL training (teaching English) and is looking for work. Please pray for her to find a teaching job soon. Philip is in Lithuania with Trek and from what we hear, seems to be enjoying himself and learning much. Bob and Chris persevere with the language. Bob went for another check this month and Chris will have one early in May. We are grateful for our many Thai friends who patiently help us communicate. Bob was blessed to be able to pray for Communion at the baptism service in Thai (had to read it though; not quite ready to pray publicly from memory).

Please pray with us for more workers. We feel at times like we are missing many opportunities simply because there are not enough of us to keep up. The Trek team will be leaving us soon, and that will leave a large hole. Pray that God will raise up more Thai workers here, and that He will give wisdom to our team to know when and where to launch new initiatives. “The fields are white…”

Thank you again for your love, concern, prayers and practical support.

Because of you, we can be here!

God Bless,

Bob and Chris Davis
