HAPPY NEW YEAR!! I (Becky) just got back from dropping the kids off at school. New beginnings always come with a mixture of excitement and stomach aches. :( That first day back can be hard, but we trust God to provide what each of our kids need today. He has always been faithful, and we look forward to 2009, knowing that He will be faithful again! Celebrating JESUS' birth: We had a full week of activities in and around Christmas. We did our Christmas presentation 5 times, and hosted a neighborhood Christmas party - all in 5 days! We were encouraged by the 38 or so neighbors who came to our Christmas celebration! We were amazed by the 1000+ students who we had the opportunity to share the miracle of Jesus' birth with - so many hearing it for the first time! God went before us, and opened the doors even wider than we first anticipated! We have been invited back to both schools, and look forward to building deeper relationships with students and teachers alike. We were blessed and encouraged to receive the Kern family from West Kelowna into our midst for all of the Christmas activities. Dawn made all the costumes for our Christmas play, Joel and the boys were in the play, and they all jumped enthusiastically into each opportunity that was given them! We are thankful for these new friendships! Now what?! If there ever was a routine in our lives, we are now ready to return to it! Greg and I will both be traveling to Lopburi later next week to complete some language checks. That means that we have a fair bit of studying to do in the next week and a bit. With the kids back in school, and all of our Christmas presentations complete, we will "hit the books" once again, as we seek to grow in our ability to speak and comprehend the Thai language. After months of having different team members away from Phuket, we will be fully reunited soon! We look forward to being together again, and praying together to seek God's direction for the year(s) ahead. We'll be doing this together with some of our MBMSI leadership coming out later this month. We invite you to pray with us about this. Many blessings to you and your families in 2009!
