Family news: Lloyd & Carol Letkeman Print E-mail
It’s a bird, it’s a plane,…no, its Dotty Dude!” Benj created a comicbenji2007.jpg action figure named Dotty Dude. He has illustrated four 2-page comic books and his fifth project was a 6-page saga. Expect more adventures of Dotty Dude! Benj is a month away from graduating from a mouth appliance to braces. He has faithfully been wearing and adjusting his ‘appliance’ to make room for his new smile. In addition, Benj is enjoying school, friends and releasing his hyper energy on the trampoline and through practical jokes.

Brandon has been investing his energies in soccer this fall and now he is into volleyball. Brandon has surpassed his mother in height and has a vertical twice as high as his competitive father. It has been a lot of fun having Brandon join me on Monday nights for adult basketball in Altona. He is able to hold his own against others over twice his age and weight. On a more musical note, we are often serenaded to the many songs Brandon is pbrandon_jumping.jpgracticing on the piano such as The Pink Panther and The Simpson’s Theme Song.

We all enjoy our weekly tradition of Friday night pizza and a movie. Our house fills up with neighborhood boys and we all help create a few pizzas and then enjoy a movie together.  It is fun to analyze and reflect on the plot, character development and the redemptive messages that are present or obviously absent.

Recently we were able to create an office for Carol to work from home in a more comfortable and efficient work space.  Having a designated work area has helped us all to separate our vocation from our family space as we work from home. Walking and talking continue to be Carol’s love languages with God and others.  Whether it is having coffee with a mentoree or a neighborhood friend, Carol gravitates toward the pressing heart issues and covers them in prayer.

(Lloyd) participated in my first art show and sale this fall. It was encouraging to sell many pieces of my work. Now I am motivated to paint since our walls are bare. On the running scene, I only participated in one ½ marathon this fall. However, I continue to enjoy running and playing basketball on the Mondays that I’m not on the road. Another hobby I got into this summer is fishing at the Altona catch and release pond. I find it a great time to quiet myself and figure out new ways to hook carp, who continually adapt the more they are caught.
