Project C0469 Adventure Camps/Barnabas Retreat Brazil Print

The property for the Barnabas Retreat Center has been purchased and efforts are being made to raise funds to fully pay for it and complete the building project.  Teams of North American volunteers have already decended on the Retreat Centre to help in the reconstruction of the existing buildings and building new ones as needed.

The Center held their first major event in October, 2009 - a Day Camp.  170 people attending, approximately 90 of them children, and many from the slums of Sao Paulo.  Praise God for the great turnout and the positive feedback that was received.  During the day they sang, listened to God's message, played games, and basically just had a great time out in nature.  Here are a few photos of the event:

The Barnabas Center/Adventure Camp will be a retreat centre for pastors, missionaries, Brazilian church teams, and other para-church organizations within the MB family.  
This project is under the direction of Jim and Marilou Nightingale, MBMSI missionaries to Brazil:

Our next goal is to develop a camping ministry for youth, children, couples & families and to provide scholarships for underprivileged to attend camp.  Efforts are currently under way to raise enough money to purchase an adjacent property to establish the Adventure Camps Brazil. 
The Brazilian MB Churches have come together with this dream and they are encouraged and praise God that this long-awaited and long planned for establishment is becoming a reality.
