The Assignment Phase is the heartbeat of SOAR.  This is where you take what you have learned and apply it to your ministry.  Whether you serve in children's ministries or renovate a church building, yours and the lives of others will be forever changed. You will learn from the ministry leaders who have dedicated their lives to serving God across Winnipeg's inner-city.  

Assignment Structure
Each team will receive a specific ministry schedule that is made of the following categories:

  • Daily Schedule:  Breakdown of how each ministry day will run including time frame and program structure.
  • Carnival Day:  Wednesday of the assignment week is a community carnival at William Whyte School. All teams serving with children's ministries will bring their kids to this event for the day.
  • Community BBQ: Friday, the last day of the assignment week will end in a BBQ celebration (for most teams) with the community that surrounds your ministry hosts.


Daily Structure
During the Assignment Phase, your day will be broken up into three parts: Ministry Preparation, Ministry Assignment and Celebration & Rest.  Below is a description of each section:
Ministry Preparation (8:30am-12:00pm): Each morning is spent preparing for your Assignment.  This includes: Worship & Devotion, Solo-Time, and Team Time. Some of this preparation will take place at Home Base prior to leaving for your ministry location.

Ministry Assignment (Times varies):  After lunch, you and your team will begin your Ministry Assignment and participate in a variety of ministry activities (i.e. Vacation Bible School program (VBS), building renovation projects, soup kitchens, etc.).  Check out our Sample Schedule to learn more about these activities.         

Celebration & Rest (5:30 - 11:00 pm):  At the end of each day, everyone is welcomed home for a time of refreshment.  Your team will have supper together with the SOAR community, attend our nightly Worship & Prayer sessions and close the day with Team Time together.
