TREK
Curriculum and Speakers Print

TREK is an experiential training program. It is true we will spend time in "class room" settings but much of our learning will take place through our relationships with each other and experiences in the world around us. You will be working physically at least two afternoons a week covering a variety of tasks.

TREK Training Curriculum is divided into three categories:

I) Personal Spirituality - you and your relationship with God
II) The Body of Christ - you and your relationship with other believers
III) Mission - you and your relationship with people in the world.

The educational experiences we plan for the two-month training phase seem to fit nicely into one of these three categories. Speakers, books, written assignments, and practice are placed under one of the three curriculum categories.  These categories are not meant to produce legalistic boundaries. We don't want to compartmentalize your faith journey but we do want you to grow in your relationship with God, others in his body, and those who do not yet know him. By journaling weekly with these 3 categories guiding you, we hope that God will enrich your lives and draw you closer to himself.

The experiential training model being implemented in TREK is certainly not new. We want to make learning and training as holistic and as relational as possible. Events like urban plunges, hikes and mountain retreats are not merely recreational events (though they are that), but are very intentionally designed for your growth in the context of discipling relationships and the world. Working together has provided great opportunities for relationships to develop and character to form. When you leave for your assignments you may well face hardships of various kinds, but God will be faithful to use them and the people around you to mold you into the person He wants you to be.

We are praying and planning for real life experiences to occur during training that will allow you to grow in your relationship with God, with others in his body, and with people in the world.
